Today in Punkworld : Punk's diary

DGM soundworld creaks back into life. We searched the building for a computer with two slots that would take the SADiE soundcards, borrowed the PC while the hapless user was on a fag break (not quite true. This is a smoke free zone), downloaded the software from SADiE, and stumlved (that's stumbled) into life. The deadline on this DVD is tighter than a....(choose your own model of tightness).

First up is a stereo assembly of the Japanese concert. Tracks prepared so far : Soundscape, Level 5, The Construkction of Light, One Time, Happy, Prozakc, Elektrik, Larks 4, Thrush, Oyster.

Surround sound remains a distant dream, as the tracks sent by Machine show up in the UK as text files, not wave. Perhaps that is a comment on the distance between the two continents. In America, digital surround sound music. In the UK, the printing press.

But this studio stuff is all pretty boring, isn't it?

Highlight of the day ; When the Vicar and Fripp discussed plans for a surround sound album, with loops from 1999 and the Gates of Paradise, accompanied by drum and percussion loops. Music. That's what us basement dwellers need.
